Fashion Doll Sewing Pattern
Supplies of fashion doll are essentially the same: something to use for the body, something to use for the head, some type of clothing, hair etc. But the way you bring together the parts can make all the differences between two dolls.
Generally while making handmade dolls, no two are exactly similar, and that’s what makes them so different. It may look like it would be difficult to make a doll, but initiate with a simple pattern, then work up to more tricky creations.
While selecting supplies, imagine how you would wish the doll to look. If you are creating a primitive doll, select gingham fabrics, rope type hair and so on. For a modernized doll, you can buy ceramic or porcelain doll heads which are already painted facially with attached hair.
A simple doll to start with is a peek-a-boo doll which needs some knee hi’s or pantyhose and a small child’s long sleeved pants and shirt outfit, along with hat and shoes. Instead of the pants and shirt, you can make use of a long sleeved dress and thick leotards. These things can be bought from a second hand store in like new condition.
Stuff a knee-hi stocking with old pantyhose or purchased stuffing and other soft materials. Shape it into a circular appearance. This will create a head of the doll. This doll does not need eyes and so on, as you will be covering up the face of doll with its hands by sewing the cuff of every sleeve where the eyes would be. End up by joining the hat to where the panty hose is not visible from the rear view. Straw hats work great or you can insert a baseball cap on backwards.
